Coffee Lounge High Tea Buffet

Hello (:

We had another one-of-those-odd-timing days recently and we decided to have a late and filling high tea so that we wouldn't have to search for dinner again a few hours later, and off to Coffee Lounge we went for lots of local food. Truth be told, I don't think I'm a huge fan of local fare, meaning I don't need to have it daily and not having it daily wouldn't cause me to feel great discomfort, but I like indulging in it once in a while, and by indulgence I mean eating a lot of it.

I didn't take photos of bubs' plates so what you see in the next few photos are the food that I ate, which I think are pretty good! The best savoury dish (not pictured) is the laksa, which is super spicy (to me) but a definite must-try! (: The desserts are also good, and it was my first time eating apom! (: It tastes like a cold pancake with thicker dough and it comes with banana gravy. Yummy!

It's officially one more week to the hols and for once, I really can't wait for it to arrive cos this term has been gruelling!

Enjoy your Sunday! (:

Basilico

Hello (:

I'm gonna say outright that this post does not do Basilico justice cos there is way more food offered than what is featured. The main reason why I didn't take that many photos was cos I was sitting at at area where the light was spoilt, hence there was no lighting and I found it very troublesome to take photos! =| I had to borrow my sister's space whenever I had to take photos, which was troublesome, so I stopped after the first few plates =P

Basilico's Italian buffet, in my humble opinion, is possibly the best Italian buffet that I have ever eaten. The quality of food is always superb and the selection of dishes is massive (: It was my sisters' first visit to Basilico and they were extremely impressed with all that they tried! (: I'm pretty sure we'll end up going back to Basilico again one day (:

For now, here are some photos taken at Basilico:

[The other Italian buffet that's simpler but also very good is Pete's Place! The Italian food at Pete's is more homely-Italian and the food is slightly more affordable (:]

Alright that's all for now (: Happy Sunday!

The Clifford Pier

Hello! (:

A week or so ago, a bunch of friends decided to meet for lunch at The Clifford Pier and I think the venue was perfect for a catch-up session. It was neither too noisy nor too quiet and the atmosphere was cheery and relaxed (: It was a week before Christmas so the festive mood was in the air and you will be able to see that they also served their festive dishes at the buffet counter. Desserts weren't included in the lunch buffet but we each ordered our own desserts and I had the key lime pie, which was not too bad but I personally felt that I would have liked it better if it were slightly more tangy.

Here are some photos taken that day:

Continue to enjoy the year end holiday! (: Happy eating and resting! (:

High Tea and Regent's Tea Lounge

I think I'm already in a holiday mood though technically there's still one more long day to get through before I can really cut myself some slack and take a few full days off work to rest and recuperate. I know that I'm supposed to be doing other things but I can't help but gravitate towards things that are not work-related, which explains this post (:

I might have mentioned this before but my eating hours can be quite off and our trip to the Tea Lounge for high tea recently was a consequence of my bad time management in the morning, which is just as well because we managed to eat a lot during our "high tea" and truly enjoyed our time together (:

I really can't wait for the Sept Hols to arrive - more sleep, more feasting and more time to do anything and everything! (:

Mezza9

Hello (:

I think we've found one of the best places to have Sunday brunch/lunch in Singapore! (: Mezza9's Sunday brunch, in my opinion, is a place worth visiting just for the sheer variety of dishes available. Despite not having Italian and Indian segments, the spread is still extensive and the quality of food is good! (: The cooks seem to like using the sous-vide method to prepare their dishes, including eggs and bread and pudding, and they tasted pretty good (: With so much to indulge in, it is no wonder that people stay there for hours because they can eat leisurely, chat and eat some more! =P

I doubt we'll be having another buffet any time soon because this was overwhelmingly good. Have a great Sunday! (:

Shallots

Hello! (:

Things are fast changing where I am, in almost every aspect of my life, and sometimes I find myself wondering what the road ahead will be like but the conclusion after talking about things with people who matter usually is that I just need to continue whatever I've been doing for a while now - work hard, be open to changes, learn and adapt quickly, and to stay true to oneself.

I decided to do a post on Shallots because it is tangentially related to change, or rather, how losing something good might not be totally bad. What happened was that one of the staff who used to work at Chums, which was a cafe near my place but closed down, spotted us when we were dining in another restaurant at Marina Square and invited us to visit Shallots when we can. (I suspect the reason he could recognise us is because we were such regular customers at Chums!) We thought that it was a nice gesture so we decided to pop by when we were in that area again but he wasn't there when we visited so we didn't get to say hi, but it's alright (:

We had the set lunch that day which came with a main course and all-you-can-eat appetizer bar! The prices of set lunches range from $16.80 to $19.80, which we feel is reasonable because the food is good and the appetizer bar will definitely fill you up if you help yourself to most things there.

Here are some photos taken of our appetizers:

Our main courses:

Baked Pacific Fish Fillet with Herbal Lemon Crust (this set lunch costs $17.80)

Grilled Rib-eye Steak with Red Wine Sauce and Fries (this set lunch costs $19.80)

Shallots is a cosy restaurant located at a corner of Marina Square (near Lady M) and it usually isn't too crowded, so I think it's a great place for a slow meal and good conversation (: I would definitely revisit it in the near future!

Alright (: Have a good Sunday! (:
