Rubato

Hello! (:

I've been really busy with school (even on weekends) so I haven't had the time to go out to eat yummy food that often but I try to do so at least once a week so that I can indulge in good food and better company (:

One evening not too long ago, we decided to just pop by Rubato after a long school day! We decided to give it a try because we have heard good reviews about this relatively new restaurant. Thankfully, we arrived before the dinner crowd because once dinner time came, the entire restaurant was full!

Their menu is pretty easy to read and you will definitely find something that you fancy, regardless of your taste preferences. We decided to go for the following dishes, which were lovely:

Fresh Oysters for starters

Risotto Quattro Funghi (risotto with four varieties of mushrooms), $24.80, which was very flavourful but might be slightly too salty for those with low tolerance for sodium. I like my food to be strong in taste so this was good for me (: I would think that the creaminess would have been too much for me to take on a day where I was less hungry but cos I was famished, I managed to clean the plate of its contents!

Spaghetti alla Carbonara, $16.80. This was also cooked very well and the portion was just right.

Tiramisu, $12.80. We wanted to try their lychee tiramisu but I think cos we weren't specific, we got a deconstructed tiramisu instead, which is just as well! (: While the presentation is interesting, I don't think the taste was anything spectacular. Nevertheless, it was above average and you can try this too if you are interested in tasting the various components.

We will most likely be back to try their other dishes but this time, we'll play safe and make a reservation! (:

Lady M

Hello (:

On super duper long days like today, desserts will keep me going for just that teensy bit more before I crash tonight =O

Am going away for a camp this weekend so wish me luck! =D

Noodle Place Restaurant

Hello (:

Sorry for the lack of updates! I've been pretty busy in school and whenever the weekend comes around, I find myself wanting to rest more which inevitably means that I'll be too lazy to try out new places to eat at but this weekend's a break from the usual pattern because we not only tried Hotel Jen's seafood buffet last night (it was only so-so), we also dropped by Noodle Place Restaurant at Somerset 313! (:

We have walked past this restaurant before but the queues were always long but we were in luck today! (: Got ourselves a seat near the entrance and started choosing what to eat.

We settled for their famous Shrimp Wanton Noodles in Soup (sorry the wantons got hidden by the noodles) and their abalone noodles!

I really liked the texture of the noodles cos it has a springy quality, much like the nicer noodles I had in Hong Kong so I really think that it's worth having noodles here (: The other ingredients that came with the noodles (i.e. the shrimp wantons and the abalone) were slightly meagre in portion but I guess it's cos of price constraints! I felt like I could eat 1.5portions on my own! Maybe we should have ordered their famous congee to try!

We'll definitely be back for more and we'll try other dishes when we return in the near future! (:

Nara Thai

Hello (:

A week ago we had lunch together at Nara Thai and it was a pleasant experience. Apart from having their mixed platter, chicken pad thai and mango salad, which are all featured above, we also had their green seafood curry, which was my favourite dish that day (:

One thing I like about Thai food is that the dishes are always packed with flavours - mostly sweet and spicy. And what I love most is that they always serve coconut juice, which is fast becoming my favourite thirst quencher and cooler when I want something that isn't fizzy.

All in all, we had a good time there together and I'm thankful that we can always count on each other to be around, whether for grub or for other things (:

Have a good weekend everyone!

Baker and Cook

An exceptionally long and sombre week. Some comfort food definitely helps (: We will all be okay, and we will continue to be better (:

Shelter in the Woods

Hello!

Life has been pretty busy hence the lack of updates but I think things have more or less been settled so I shall get back to updating this space on a more regular basis (:

Before the March break, I went to Shelter in the Woods with my very good friend cos he had a good experience the first time he went. Unfortunately, I think we ordered the dishes that weren't too outstanding when we visited this restaurant together, hence the experience was a little average. Having said that though, we loved the desserts and we wouldn't mind having more of them (:

Here are some photos of the dishes that we had! You can view their menu at this link!

Alright that's all for now (: Have a great weekend everyone! (:

Dessert Table at My Sister's Wedding Reception

Hello! (:

My sister got married yesterday and we're all happy for her! (: Each of us were deployed to do various tasks for her wedding and I was in the desserts table team, along with another trusty bub. My sister didn't want to only have desserts from a particular vendor so what she did was to order a variety of desserts from various vendors and The Desserts Table Team had to place the items in a visually-appealing manner (: Overall, I think it was a success as her guests were very impressed by the range of food and the overall presentation! Whee (:

Alright today shall be rest and recuperate day so we shan't push ourselves too hard. Had a tiring but fulfilling day yesterday! Congratulations once again, Nette! (:
