Rise and Grind

I really can't believe that the first week of June break went by so quickly! I think this is partly due to the fact that I had to attend a 3day conference so that took up most of my week. However, I think being able to try new food places during the rest of the days helped in getting me into the holiday mood because I seldom have the luxury of time to travel to wherever it is that we wanna eat at to visit new food places and try new dishes!

Thankfully, there are enough eateries around my area to try out so we don't have to travel far distances all the time. My sister and I visited a new cafe at Bukit Timah Plaza and we were happy that the food is pretty good! (: We liked all the dishes that we ordered so I think we might go back to try others! (: I realised I didn't take a photo of her iced chocolate but other than that, the rest of the food items that we ordered have been photographed. All these items cost $50 in all so I guess the price is comparable to other cafe food prices. It's not too bad a place if you want cafe-type food or just a place to hide from the heat! (:

Oh I must mention that I really like their waffles! However, it can be quite filling, especially if you aren't a carbo monster like me, so I would highly recommend that you share it if you don't particularly love waffles or if you can't take a lot of flour =P

IKEA

Hello! (:

On the first day of June break, we decided to go to IKEA for lunch because we had to check out some lights for SISC!

As expected, IKEA was extremely packed even though it was already 2plus (nearing 3!) in the afternoon and there were almost no empty seats at the IKEA cafe. Thankfully, after walking around for 10mins, we managed to find a table in the quieter part of the cafe, so I sat down while he went to get our food. I think that's how we get things done these days: divide and conquer. And that might just be the winning strategy (if applied correctly) to survive and thrive for the rest of the year (and possibly beyond?).

So here's a pic of the feast that he got for us (: I gobbled down my meal quickly cos I was famished by the time the food arrived, and then we proceeded to walk down the familiar aisles once we were done eating.

Kilo & Pact

Hello (:

We dropped by Kilo & Pact a while ago for a light meal because we were both stuffed from our heavy lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed the clean tasting and flavourful dishes (: To me, Kilo serves nicely done fusion-ish food and it is always a pleasure trying out new dishes here! What I really like about Kilo is its simplicity and clean-looking/tasting foods (: Check out their menu to see what they offer! (:

It's rainy start to the weekend but we'll have a blast any how! (: Take care and enjoy yourselves! (:

Omakase Burger

The semester's coming to an end but we still have normal lessons (horrors!) and many loose ends to tie up before we can take a short breather during June break! But till we get to June, we can always indulge in some comfort (but sinful) food (: (:

Sunny Choice

Hello (:

Marking season is almost over and normal life will resume but before that happens, let me share THE BEST Thunder Tea Rice that I've had in my life to date - Sunny Choice's Thunder Tea Rice! (:

We first tried it a month ago and we liked it so much that we went back for more a few days ago! It's really yummy and doesn't taste like the usual thunder tea rice that is served at food courts.

Understandably, it's an acquired taste so if you don't like it, you might never like this =P

There are many other dishes at Sunny Choice though so you can check out the menu before going down (:

Fries Attack

Marking makes markers mysteriously hungry. So we have been getting fries.. and loads of it! =P

Just wanted to share that Udders Pancakes serves Salted Egg Yolk Fries which are yummy so you should give it a shot if you are feeling adventurous! (:

Fat Boy's The Burger Bar

We're into marking season and I suspect I will be super duper busy till end of July but I will still try to post photos of comfort food that keep me sane and happy (: [Note to self: In my busy-ness, I must remember to continue to set aside time for people who matter and to eat together because what better way there is than to bond? (:]

Here are some photos taken at NNP's belated birthday dinner at Fat Boy's! Their burgers are wholesome and filling! Fat Boy's is definitely a place to go when you wanna just sink your teeth into something substantial.
