Hello (:
Jo and I met up today for some yummy vegetarian food at Sufood! (: I was pleasantly surprised that my 4-course set lunch only cost $18++ (which added up to $21.50 or so). The food tasted pretty good and we felt relatively 'healthy' after eating their food because everything tasted quite light, including the baked macaroni dish that I had as my main course! (:
They are pretty busy during lunch time though so it is advisable to go before the crowd comes or to make a reservation way in advance. Alright shall leave photos of the dishes that I had!
We'll be traipsing to the east tomorrow for some Indian food! Wheee (: I love the holidays.

The Missing Pan (Dinner)
Hello! (:
I spent yesterday vegetating away till I could take it no longer and decided to meet a special person for our kickass dinner and then a trip to a pasar malam! Hahaha I know it sounds so trivial and mundane but in all honesty, I haven't been to a pasar malam in ages so it was quite a nice experience revisiting a feature that is closely associated with growing up (:
Sorry I have digressed. The rest of this post has nothing to do with dinner last night or pasar malams but I just thought to put that in so that I can remember what I did when I decide to read my blog from time to time (:
Not too long ago, Bubs and I decided to go to The Missing Pan for an early dinner partly cos I was starving and partly cos I wanted to try more of their breakfasty/ brunchy food but as luck would have it, they only served dinner-ish food during dinner time! Erps. Sounds duh but trust me, I really had no clue. Anyhow, since I was already starving, I decided to just stay put and try some items on their dinner menu and in some way, I guess it's good that we tried cos now we know that we should only go there for breakfast/ brunch food! =P
Dinner started pretty well with complimentary bread that was warm and crusty. Their butter was also yummy (it's garlic butter if I'm not wrong) so we were quite pleased to have some bread to chow on while waiting for our mains to arrive.
We also decided to order a cake for dessert since their tarts were such stunners! We went for the Coffee Cheesecake ($6.70) and it was really solid. The bottom layer tasted more like a brownie base than a cake base, and it was a tad too hard to be cake. The cheesecake layer was also pretty decent - it wasn't overly cheesy nor sweet, but at the same time, the cheesecake wasn't as smooth as expected. On the whole, this was average to good. The serving size was huge as always so we had a hard time finishing this, especially after our super filling mains!
All in all, I think there dinner dishes are decent though there's nothing much to shout about. I would certainly prefer to visit The Missing Pan at non-dinner times instead (: Thankful for this place nevertheless cos at least it is another option for me when I don't feel like travelling too far (:
Alright that's all for now. Happy weekend! (:

In the mean time, I also had a cup of hot mocha ($6.50), which was great to me cos it helped to stave off the hunger pangs a little more.
Since I have not had risotto for a while, I decided to try their Garden Risotto ($24), which was perhaps a tad too healthy for my palate! Haha Don't get me wrong, I love my greens and all but this had little taste and I had to ask for salt to make the dish more flavourful! One thing that is good though is that the serving is generous so you will DEFINITELY be stuffed if you, like me, managed to finish the entire bowl of veggies and risotto single-handedly. Haha
Bubs had the Braised Beef Bowl ($34), which is interesting because he never had braised beef served in a bread bowl before. The beef was good but I think there wasn't enough sauce to dip the bread in so in the end, he asked for more butter and I think that did the trick (: We both noticed that many people who ordered this dish didn't manage to finish their bread (I don't think anyone can, really - there is just too much of it) so we felt that it was quite a waste of good bread. Oh welly.

The Missing Pan (Day)
Hello (:
We went to the not-so-new cafe in the hood, The Missing Pan, recently and left pretty impressed with the food that they serve (: In fact, their brunchy/breakfasty food left such a deep impact that we decided to head back there yesterday for dinner, not knowing that they didn't serve their brunchy/breakfasty food at dinner, which was disappointing, but more about that in another post.
We were lucky to have visited during a time when traffic was slow and so we could enjoy our meal in peace (: We also managed to get a seat next to the window, which was lovely because there was lots of natural light (it was a cloudy day) coming in and we could also look at the street and watch the world go by (:
We started off with a small little cup of macchiato ($4.50) and a cup of mocha ($6.50). I realise that I usually order mocha when I can't decide whether to have cappuccino or hot chocolate because in my mind, a mocha is a mix between the two =P Both drinks were good (: I would have preferred it if they were a little warmer but that's just me.
We ordered their famous eggs benedict with salmon ($22), which was carefully made (apparently the eggs were cooked at 66degrees or something like that) and the thick mini-slabs of salmon were also prepped well. This dish is filling so if you are hungry, you might want to order this (:
Their usual french toast contained meat so I opted for the children's non-meaty version of french toast, but the kind staff upsized my portion to adult portion and it became this mega plate of goodness! If I had not been famished, I swear I would NEVER be able to finish this because it was neverending! hahaha Well this dish left me stuffed for the rest of the day and I couldn't eat dinner till late.. so I guess the $19 was well-spent =P
We also took home a mixfruit crumble ($6.50) and one chocolate tart ($7) - both were heavenly! If you are a chocolate fan like me, you must try the chocolate tart! You will probably like it too (: The fruit tart was surprisingly good and I ate most if it for dessert at night (:
I really would like to go back again in the near future for more yummy breakfast/brunch (: Perhaps I'll visit it during Sept break or something (: I can't wait for Sept hols to arrive! There's so much to be done but at least I wouldn't have to go to school (: Have a great weekend everyone! (:

Lady M
Hello!
This is way overdue but I still would like to post the photos of the lovely cakes that we had at Lady M (: I personally think that they taste more Japanese than Western because of the very light cream and the overall 'fluffy' taste. They are pretty yummy but I think they are best savoured when shared (:
I will post a more substantial entry when it's not so close to bed time! Heh (: Goodnight and have a great week ahead! (:

The Ship
Hello! (:
I am so relieved that the weekend is finally here because this has been an extremely packed week! As we move closer towards the end of the term, kids and teachers start to fray because we are all just trying our best to keep afloat and to make sure we get whatever that needs to be done, done. I really hope that all of us will just keep threading and kicking till we reach the finish line with no/ few mishaps or misfortunes.
Anyhow, enough about school for now. I'd like to recount my trip to NEX shopping centre, which is on the other end of Sg (from where I live at), where my good friend and I ate at The Ship because he had told me that The Ship serves very decent western fare.
Believe it or not, I have never eaten at The Ship in my life so I didn't know what to expect. So imagine my surprise when I walked into the restaurant and saw this:
We both ordered set lunches and each set lunch came with our choice of main dish, a soup, a dessert and a cup of coffee/tea (:
He ordered the Steak Set Lunch ($19.90) and it was good, though I thought the slices of steak looked smaller than expected.
To end off our meal, we each had a scoop of icecream for dessert as well as a cup of coffee/ tea (: The tea was strangely bitter though =|
I was bursting by the end of the meal because the 3 courses really added up and I was more than happy to take a walk around the very populated NEX shopping mall. We went to support our kids at the Science Buskers booths and bought some things before going home (:
Every weekend should be relaxing and fun/food-filled (: I really cherish my weekends and I can't wait to eat more yummy food later/ tomorrow! (:

The entire restaurant was filled with nautical/ shippy related items/ decorations, which was on one hand quite tacky but the other quite thematic =P
After taking a quick photo of that decorative item, we proceeded to order our food cos we were famished! (: For drinks, we each got a glass of cold green drink:
Fresh Apple Juice ($.5.50) and Honey Avocado Shake ($5.50)
The honey avocado shake, which was recommended by the waiter, totally did not disappoint and I loved every drop of it! (:We both ordered set lunches and each set lunch came with our choice of main dish, a soup, a dessert and a cup of coffee/tea (:
Our soup of the day (Mushroom Soup) and bread buns
I ordered the Seafood Set Lunch ($25.90) and was treated to this delightful platter! (: Thankfully, the portions weren't too huge or I would not have been able to finish my food!

Toby's Estate
Hello (:
This shall be a really short post because I have unfinished work to do! =| The long weekend has been nothing short of glorious and I'm always thankful for these extra pockets of time for me to meet up with people who matter (:
I'll do proper posts of food that I had over the long weekend another time but to ease into the beginning of four relentless week till the end of term, here're some happyfying photos that I took at Toby's, where my two friends and I went for brunch earlier this morning (:
I quite liked the chai tea latte cos it is not overly-sweet (though it still is sweet) and it has nice foam (: The french toast were a little too bland for my liking. The macerated fruits and the accompanying 'fruit sauce' were supposed to complement the fluffy toasts well but I think I prefer fruits in their natural state plus a serving of honey/ maple syrup on the side. Perhaps I should have just asked for maple syrup! Oh well. It was definitely not bad, just that it wasn't to my liking (:
Alright, shall finish my work and head to bed! (: Goodnight and have a great week ahead! (:

The Disgruntled Chef
Hello (:
I finally visited The Disgruntled Chef last weekend after waiting for years for the hype to die down. I remember it being very popular when it first opened and I could hardly get a table if I didn't call early to make a reservation. Thankfully, I managed to get a table this time despite calling just a few hours before chow time! (:
At first sight, you might think that the portions are relatively small and that you will doubt if you will be full from eating such meagre portions but they actually weren't that bad. We were nicely filled but not overly stuffed so we could actually go for post-lunch ice-cream! (: Heh.
These were the two dishes that we had: one is savoury and the other is sweet, but both are equally enjoyable (: It really depends on what you like to eat!
I might decide to go back again in the near future to try the dishes on their main menu because I was unaware that they only served the weekend brunch menu on weekends! (: The atmosphere in the restaurant is pretty relaxed in the day time because there is natural light pouring in through the glass windows and the diners mind their own business and do not talk very loudly, so all is good (:
Alright that's all for now (: Happy Sunday! (:

Pear Tree Mix ($10) and White Peach Bellini ($22)
We started off with their very yummy drinks and though they are quite costly, I felt that the drinks had a 'full body' and strong taste! I really liked my pear tree crushed ice drink cos it whetted my appetite for my brunch dish, which was nothing short of spectacular! (:At first sight, you might think that the portions are relatively small and that you will doubt if you will be full from eating such meagre portions but they actually weren't that bad. Hortense Laborie - Duck Confit, Foie Gras, Truffled Egg Cocotte ($25)
Elvis - French Toast, Fruit & Nut Bread, Nutella, Bananas, Vanilla Ice Cream ($20)
