Hello everyone (:
I just came back from a short dessert/ supper treat at Xin Wang and boy do I miss HK even more now! Fastfood chain restaurants like Xin Wang are aplenty in HK and one of them is called Chee Kei, which is where we had our first meal after touching down in HK! It serves HK fare and is decent in terms of quality and price (:
There're many outlets sprinkled across the island and it's not difficult to find chain restaurants like this (: They're truly life savers when it's pouring outside and when you want some HK fare! Alright more on HK food in the upcoming posts.. have other things to settle now!
Have a good weekend! (:

Portal at Langham Place Hotel
Hello!
I just came back from a colleague's wedding and am feeling full and sleepy so I thought I'd do a short post before napping! Will start on the dimsum posts tonight if possible (:
Anyway, we had a free drink each at Portal because housekeeping needed a little while more to get our room ready for check-in and it was good that we decided to claim our free drink because Portal turned out to be one of the most friendly and welcoming bars that I've been to in my life (not saying that I've been to many; in fact, I seldom go to bars but this one definitely made an impression).
What I like most about Portal is that the staff are friendly and they generally leave you alone to enjoy the company of the person/ people you are with and/ or give you private time to yourself (: This means that you can sit there for quite a long while to do your own things without feeling hurried or pressured! Wonderful!
I actually forgot to take the cup of sprite and wine that the both of us chose to have but it doesn't really matter (:
We returned a few days towards the end of our trip and actually sat there to have hot chocolate and coffee while using the ipad to settle some things (: I definitely prefer the coffee tables to the high bar-top seats! It's a good place to go to if you want a break from the shopping crowd as it is relatively quiet and small.
Alright time to go off for a bit! Will update again soon! (:

Dinner at The Place
Hello everyone!
I'm back! (: I'd wanted to post this laste night but I was feeling pretty bushed from the bustle of the last day in HK so I basically unpacked, settled some other things and slept.
I shall post some photos of the one dinner buffet we'd at The Place, which again is the wonderful restaurant at Langham Place Hotel.
Surprisingly, there were quite a large crowd at The Place last Saturday evening when we decided to be lazy & make our way downstairs for dinner. Initially, we had thought that these people were part of a tour group but upon closer observation, we realised that they were people from all over. They added a nice lively buzz to the place and was nice having a good and filling meal at The Place (:
Alright enough talking, here are some photos from that night:
Sorry for some of the blurry shots! Heh, it's either the low lighting or the eagerness to eat or both that casued them =P
Anyhow, there's quite a bit of things today but nothing too pressing, which is good because I need some time to acclimatize to post-holiday life.
Alright that's all for now, have a good Friday! (:

Breakfast at Langham Place Hotel
Hello everyone! (:
It's my last day in HK and since I've a bit of time to kill right now, I shall post some photos of the buffet breakfast I'd at The Place, which is the restaurant at the lobby of the hotel which I've been residing at for the entire trip! I think the photos speak for themselves so I will refrain from making any comments unless absolutely necessary! Alright here goes:
Actually there's a lot more food but I think we spent the second half of breakfast drinking tea and orange juice and talking so we kind of neglected the food, heh.
Oh! This is the first buffet breakfast place that allows takeaway! They'll allow you to take away some coffee/ tea/ fruit juices as well as some fruit (banana/ apples) and/ or bagel in case you get hungry again on the run! Fantastic! (:
Alright will probably do more HK related food posts, when I get back! (: Am going to enjoy the last of my holiday! Can't wait for my next adventure! (: Have a good day!

CMPB
Hello everyone! (:
It's currently raining in HK so I'm staying indoors till the weather clears. The storm last night was pretty disruptive because it woke me up a couple of times! I think the floor to ceiling windows didn't help because the heavy rain lashed out in full force and it became quite noisy. Thankfully it subsided early this morning and I could go back to sleep for a bit more.. (:
Anyhow, I'm going to blog about CMPB today! This was our last good meal in Sg before leaving for HK and boy am I pleased that I chose to go to CMPB for lunch! (:
Needless to say, we chose to sit indoors since the two guys tend to perspire quite a bit outdoors! The interior's quite dimly lit as before but at least it was cool (:
We started off with some cappuccino ($6), which was warm and lovely (: I liked that it didn't have too much foam!
My favourite drink in the world, Sprite ($6). Personally I find it ridiculous that restaurants charge the same price for soft drinks and coffee/ tea but I guess it's my choice to consume Sprite! So no complaints about the price of Sprite here!
Ooh this is a drink that made me make a face! haha It's called Green Energy ($12) and I think it's a mix of green apple and celery juice if I'm not wrong! Gosh the taste of celery is SO strong that it hit me the moment I took a sip!
Matty ordered the Cod & Chips ($27) and he sang praises of the fresh and juicy cod! (: I think the fries were good as well. Greens for sides is the way to go! (:
I had the Avocado Salmon with Poached Eggs ($21) and it was yummy! I think the advocado was a nice touch as it helps to give some texture and taste to the poached eggs and salmon.
Zaffrey's HUGE half & half pizza ($26) - ham and duck - and this was meant for two but this guy could finish most of it because he went to the gym before lunch for cycling class and he was famished! In any case, it's good that he's eating more because he has been losing a lot of weight! Oh but if you don't have a big appetite, I'd suggest ordering this to share so that you won't feel too stuffed or feel too bad when you can't polish this off entirely on your own.
Alright that's all for now! (: I'll be heading out quite a bit so I'll most probably not be blogging till I get back to Sg! Take care and have a great Sunday! (:

The quality of food has improved a lot since the first time we visited when it had just opened! (:

Riders Cafe
Hello everyone! (:
The first week of hols is already gone! Nooo! I wish time would really slow down because there are many things to be done this hols! I'll be out of the country from tomorrow onwards so I'm not too sure if I'll be able to get back to this blog till 2 weeks later but I'll definitely try my best! (:
The two guys started off the evening with some nice cold drinks. Matty had the Hoegaarden $11/ bottle,
Zaffrey had the iced chocolate ($5), which I thought was decent for its price and
I ordered the cappuccino ($4.50), which was extremely foamy! The coffee was pretty alright though.
Somehow I think I can always trust Zaffrey to order The Riders Burger ($17) because he always (coincidentally or otherwise) orders this when we visit Riders Cafe! haha As usual, he would say that the burger is okay and everyone would pick on his lightly salted fries (: Good dish to have if you love fries!
I must have had a risotto craving a few weeks back because I remember ordering this dish for most of my meals! Not surprisingly, I chose to have the the Scallop Risotto ($24), which was pretty creamy and nice-smelling, but I think you might not like this dish too much if you get gelat very easily.
Oh and finally, THE dish that would make me go back to Riders Cafe - Death by Chocolate Cake ($12). It's possibly the most sinful chocolate cake anyone can eat because not only is the cake itself is already very chocolatey, it is swathed with a generous amount of chocolate sauce! Gosh. I would HIGHLY recommend this for SHARING purposes, especially if you are not a dessert/ chocolate monster! I must admit it's not the best chocolate cake I've eaten but it's the most monstrous and overwhelming, and hence, something to experience on its own! (:

Not too long ago, the three of us decided ended work early (meaning before 7pm) and we decided to head down to Riders Cafe for a relatively early dinner. Since it was Friday night, we didn't think we would be able to get a table but we managed to do so probably because it was 6+pm and the office crowd had yet to arrive! We were seated at the same table we had Jade's birthday celebration two years ago!

Matty ended up having the BBQ Beef Short Ribs ($30), which he said was pretty good except that there were too many bones! haha

Have a great week ahead!
